Love on Their Shoulders

A story about a boy, his dog, and the journey they shared.

Hey, my friend,

Today’s story is about a twelve-year-old boy named Mykola and his dog.

When his family had to leave their home in Ukraine, they could only take what they could carry.

Most people would think about clothes or food first, but for Mykola, the most important thing was his dog.

He found a backpack, made a little space inside, and carried his dog on his back as they walked for miles to safety.

The photo of him with that backpack spread across the world.

People didn’t just see a boy with a pet; they saw a child who was determined to keep his best friend close no matter what.

For Mykola, it wasn’t about choosing between belongings or survival. It was about making sure the one he loved most was safe, too.

Stories like this remind us how strong simple love can be. In the middle of fear and change, this boy held on to something that gave him comfort and hope.

And maybe that’s what we all do in our own ways; we carry the people, memories, or even the pets that make us feel at home, no matter where we are.

I wanted to share this with you today because it made me think about how lucky we are to have hearts that can hold on to love so tightly.

Wherever you are reading this, I hope you feel surrounded by the people and the little companions who make your life warmer, my friend.

That is it for today, and see you tomorrow.

Take care,
Prasad Mairale
