He Could Have Changed His Life That Day

Instead, he chose something else.

Hey, my friend,

Today’s story is about a man named Billy Ray Harris.

He lived on the streets in Kansas City. Most days, he sat outside with a small cup. People walked by, and some placed coins inside.

One day, a woman named Sarah walked past him and dropped some change in his cup.

She did not know that her engagement ring slipped off her finger and fell in too.

Later, when Billy looked through the cup, he found the ring. He did not know how much it was worth.

And, he did not want to guess, so he went to a jeweler to find out.

The jeweler told him the ring was worth a lot of money. Someone even offered to buy it from him right there.

Billy did not have a home, not even much food; hence, selling the ring could have changed things for him very fast.

But Billy did not sell it.

He said that his grandfather taught him to do what is right, hence he kept the ring safe.

The next day, Sarah came back. She was hoping to find the ring, but she was not sure she would.

When Billy saw her, he gave the ring back to her.

He did not ask for anything but just did it because he felt it was the honest thing to do.

When Sarah and her husband saw this, they wanted to help Billy.

They started a fundraising page to support him. Many people from different places read the story and felt moved, and they donated.

The fundraiser grew to more than one hundred ninety thousand dollars.

And, with that help, Billy found a home and was able to reconnect with his family after many years apart.

This story shows that even in hard times, a person can stay true to what they believe is right.

It shows that the values we carry can guide us even when life is heavy.

And sometimes, the good we hold inside finds its way back to us in ways we could never expect.

I hope this will encourage you to stay true to what you believe, even when it is difficult, my friend.

That is it for today and see you tomorrow.

Take care,
